The several twists are easy to see and do nothing to question that which we first learn about the figures, and for a movie that simplifies Russian oligarchs ruling lands such as warlords while participating in illicit trade, the entire thing seems bizarrely apolitical.
Combined with its overriding lack of flair or style, Siberia is a inert bore which marks a step backward because of its again-relevant celebrity. Having largely worked on shorts before this, Ross appeared poised to create a career in persuasive VOD-level attribute dramas, demonstrating an ability to exude intriguing performances out of his actors and committing a degree of skilled glow to a non invasive production.
While awaiting his buddy to resurface, Lucas begins to understand that the bargain he had been going to agent, selling a few rare blue diamonds, has the capacity to fall apart since the products are of suspicious origin and credibility. Now, trapped between the Russian mob and government researchers, Lucas should discover a means to unentangle himself in the offender affairs which ensnare him.
It takes up the whole first hour of the movie, pushing the bead industry to the background in favour of a rigid, meandering romance which feels completely devoid of pure chemistry. It teeters dangerously near plotlessness, along with the boring, colorless cinematography threatens to bore you to the purpose of barely caring enough to adhere to along with plot buried in dull exposition.
This could possibly be less bothersome if the event had some plot importance beside giving Lucas a direct need to protect someone besides himself, however Katya is this type of slim sketch of a character which it is difficult to take care of her at least. She's there to provide Lucas something to lust after and seemingly adore, though that presumed love never really makes it into the display.
Additionally, it is rather disconcerting she shows up in one stage for the only intention of being used as a sexual intercourse chip using a dangerous mobster, voluntarily offering herself to be raped so Lucas can escape the situation. It is an entirely unnecessary scene which does not so much evoke empathy for the personality as it will disgust with all the filmmakers for conceiving and implementing the situation in the first location. There is nothing engaging in these figures, nothing to create this situation anything more than the usual procedural slog.
